Structures, over time, as a living organism, are subject to damage, deterioration and new challenges. Weather conditions, ageing of materials, emergencies, such as earthquakes and fires, changes in structural guidelines, as well as potential new requirements (change of use of a property) for reinforcing the static load carrier – or simply a renovation and change of the initial division of the structure accompanied by the need to update the carrying capacity – are addressed technically through various Repair and Reinforcement systems.
These systems are applied using a number of different techniques and materials. The ever developing technology provides us with new outlets and solutions, as well as new materials and techniques, so that we can address efficiently and reliably any construction challenge and need of the user.
The techniques used for the repair or reinforcement of structures are selected by the designer based on the current state, the potential damage of the structure, the desired final result and the conditions under which the project is carried out (environment, geographical location, season the works are performed, completion time, etc.). In many cases, interventions require a combination of techniques.
